Photoshop CS3 and layers...HELP!?

I am trying to blend 2 photos together following the book SIMPLIFIED TOP 100 TIPS %26 TRICKS of PHOTOSHOP. Anyways...

#1. Says with the 2 photographs you want to blend open, click the move tool.

Well that is my problem. For whatever reason, I can't open two photographs at the same time. WHAT am I doing wrong!?! It just opens one. Then I go to File, and click open again...to get 2nd picture. And the 2nd picture comes up...but the 1st one disappears. Please help!

You can copy one (select all ctrl+a then ctrl c) Open the other image and open new blank layer. On the blank layer paste the first image. If you're trying to put an object from one photo onto another then open both images side by side.

Use the wand to select the item you want to move. Use the arrow symbol to click and drag the selected item onto the 2nd photo.

Make sure that th little double box symbol in the upper right corner is pressed so can put both images on the screen at the same time.

The first thing you need to do is go to the PS3 Help files and do some tutorials, and read some of the basics. (At the top of the screen when you have PS open ... Upper right corner.)

Until you understand at least the basic functions and tools there's no way any of us can help you.
