Do you think Photoshop editing (and other photo editing programs) is destroying the skills of photography?
I've heard many different sides of the argument, and I don't think it matters what you use, but I would just like some opinions just to see what you all think. Thanks = ]
Photoshop and photography. Opinions, please?security
well i've got a degree in photography and work as a retouch artist so i guess i can see both sides of this argument. the studio i work at currently sometimes makes me want to punch myself in the face because the photographers don't even seem to know about basic lighting, or what i mean when i say something like 'can you just open that shadow up a bit, or add a fill here.. let alone asking them what their histogram looks like or what the value of their highlights are....' they assume that everything will be 'fixed in post' when that is not the case. the purpose of having post-production should be to fix things that cannot be fixed while shooting. NOT to clean up a floor or table of every speck of dust visible, or completely re-arrange the lighting. post can even be used as a tool to enhance or take the image to the next level, but more and more crap photographers are getting the job today because they are cheap and they don't really seem to feel that they need the knowledge that in reality makes a real artist able to make the right image.
