I just installed Photoshop 7.0 on my computer and the colors are all wrong. They're all of. White is like a cream color and creams are yellow, and they're all messed up. When I go into ImageReady, the colors come out correctly so it's just Photoshop. So how do I FIX IT??

With Photoshop 7, you've probably got Adobe Gamma in C:\Program Files\Common Files\Adobe\Calibration\Adobe Gamma Loader. It might be in the Control Panel as well.

Click Adobe Gamma and use this as an easy way to approximately calibrate your monitor with Photoshop.

Working spaces: RGB: sRGB, CMYK: SWOP v2, Gray: gamma 2.2, Spot: 20%

Policies: RGB, CMYK, Gray: Preserve embedded profiles, Mismatch: ask when opening checked, ask when pasting checked.

Options: ACE engine, perceptual, use black point compensation checked, use dither checked.

Looking at those settings, maybe you're using absolute rendering intent.

open the image in photoshop go to the layers menu and chose create new layer from background, then go to the layers pallet click on the layer which should be layer 0 then in the top right corner of the layers pallet change the opacity to 50% or how ever transparent you want it to be, then go to file and save or save for web and save the image as a png,

now your ability to see the transparency of the image depends on what program you use to view it Internet Explorer 6 and below don't support png transparency IE7 and just about every other browser does. As for image viewers its a matter of trial and error some will and some wont.

I do this by building up a selection with the circular selection tool. Hold shift to add to the selection. Select circular corners, then rectangular center section.

make it in 5000 x 4000 pixels dimension with resolution between 400 and 500. This will help it to look clean and professional while printing. The image size will come around 30 mb. If your computer has a good processor speed (more than 5 ghz). You can change the canvas size to the original size you want (500 x 400 cms) and can use lesser image dimensions with res 300 to 500, but the image weight will go in gbs. around 10 gb may be.

Paint Shop Pro is very similar and way more cheaper, I think under 100 bucks you can buy it. The latest version is great. But to be honest there are many free clones out there, you don't even need to afford such expensive software, but if you want to go pro and u really need it I suggest the version 7.0 of photoshop is old but it isn't much different from the newer versions, what matters is the basics.

Some others will probably give you a better answer as I use an Apple and full Photoshop. However, you should not have to download directly from the camera into Elements. Just download from the camera, or preferably from a card reader, to wherever you want to put the files.

Then in Elements go to File - Open and select the file where you stored the photos. You can then open any photo you want.

Hi, everyone. I am currently creating a website for a friend but I'm experiencing a problem. I have just created a slideshow/photo album using macromedia flash 8 (I exported it as a flash movie) and would like to know how to (if possible) import the photo album into my photoshop based website (the website is still incomplete and in PSD format).

You can start by downloading CCleaner (aka Crap Cleaner) and running it. It will get almost any kind of temporary file and flush it out for you.

Next, you should get Treesize Free and see just what folders and files are hogging your precious space.

Make sure you burn or otherwise back up anything you don't need on your computer. That'll free up more space too.

What do you mean by "change the layer." To move layers, just click and drag the layers above another layer to move it to the front of your view. And if you mean layer blending modes by change the layer, they're in the layers palette also.
To activate a layer, just click on it in the Layers allet.
go to windows on the top, and look for layers and if its not allready selected it, u need to select it and a lil window will come out and in the window theres a little botton on the bottom of a little well it looks like a page that has a sticker , (its really small) then u click and u get a new layer. and to change the layer, all the new layers will come out on that window and u can select them to change layers, photoshop is cool =p ..im not so good but im still learning =)... i have the 7.5 but i think its the same. well hope this helps =)

The quick answer to this is NO.

Most people that use any of the Adobe Photoshop Softwares have purchased the software and use it, either on a personal note or as a proffesional designer.

Wow, 2.0. Try one a little more recent. It's probably not compatible with your version of Windows. If you mean elements 2.0, then that's a different program all together.
do you have a 'search assistant' program? if so open that and enter "photoshop" in the blank box. Hit enter and wait.

Sounds like your monitor cable has a kink... or the color management is all whacked out...

Reboot the computer and press "del" or "F1" to enter the bios (it will tell you what button to press). If the screen is purple there, it isn't photoshop, its the hardware. Make sure the cable is plugged in completely and that no pins are bent... move the cable around and see if it improves the color.

You can also get decent results from Paint Shop Pro. It's cheaper and I know that they have a 30 day free trial...just go to the Corel website and download it.

If you're looking for something that's totally free, Paint.net is decent. It has a lot of the features of the expensive programs (but not all) and you can save your artwork in a variety of formats.

I've used all three, and I prefer Paint Shop Pro. Photoshop really doesn't seem at all intuitive, and paint.net was too basic for my needs. There are some things that Photoshop does better than any other program, but it's so complicated and does so many things that I don't think I'll ever figure them all out.

The file description is under the file info. At least it is in CS2. If it's not there in the version of Photoshop you're running you could always try the help/troubleshooting menu.

All above true. You could also create a Fill/Adjustment layer of Hue/Saturation. Bring the saturation to zero and then work on the mask of that layer in black %26 white to control the impact of your layer.

Warning: for some reason, bringing the saturation of an image down to 0 won't be a true grayscale (I'd love to know why tho)
It would be easier to show you but I will suggest learning to use layers, the lasso or magic wand and the select menu.

you can also use layer masks. If you are creating a grey scale image from a color image and want one item to retain color you can also save your grey scale under another name and cut and paste from the color to the grey scale.

An update for Photoshop 7 would not work for CS2, and anything that was an issue in PS 7 should have been fixed in CS2...so that's why that patch didn't work.

Are you sure that the white is on the same layer? Because a lot of times when you import a file that has transparency, Photoshop will placed a Background layer in white underneath. I'm not sure how much you use PS so I don't know exactly how much you know :-\

Any program that allows you to edit a picture is, to one degree or another, creating something that isn't real. That said, I know what you mean, and yes, there are any number of them.

"Photoshop" has become a term, something like "Kleenex", used to denote a whole host of similar products.

Seems to me that you need to follow a tutorial as you sound a little confused. With Adobe Photoshop you can create your websites layout and design. However you need to use something like Adobe Dreamweaver to create your webpage. You can do this by slicing from Photoshop and then recreating it using CSS coding or Frames in Adobe Dreamweaver.

It's quite a lengthy and sometimes complicated process. I have put some tutorials in the source section that should hopefully help you.

If you design the page in Adobe Photoshop, you can click the transfer to InDesign button. There, you can cut it up into slices, image maps, whatever, and save for output. It will save the HTML for you then you just have to tweak it. It's still a lot of work. I tweak them in Notepad. Then you'll need an FTP program like CuteFTP to upload your pages to your page.

Ok... now the Mask on the sample is applied using the Gradient Tool... Select the Radial Option and black to white... then make sure the layer's mask is selected and then apply the gradient where you want it...

The faded blur effect you're trying to get is sort of a reverse vignetted effect. If you can't figure out how to do it with the layer mask, another easy way to do it is like this:

Make a new layer, and using the radial gradient tool, make a radial gradient layer like the one you see there around the part of the photo you want.

Then play around with the layer blend options, try multiply or screen.

I am using Photoshop CS2 and I wanted to create a web photo gallery through the automate function.

I noticed that a few of the galleries that can be created can display information about the image.

For example: File, Title, Description, Credits and Copyright.

I thought that I could add info to the actual image using Bridge. So I gave it a try and filled in the File Info....but this did not display in the web gallery.

How can I input information to the image so that it displays in the web gallery for each image?

Well...I taught my 8 year old "limits" so it really depends on what concepts you're looking to teach.

So...yada, yada, yada, blah, blah, blah...Photoshop is an F-117A...

Not really.

So here goes...

1. Open up Photoshop.

2. Open up your image.

3. Create a New Layer for your superimposed text.

4. Place your text into that new layer.

5. Set the transparency of the new layer to your liking.

Done.

There are finer details on how to perform each step but you can find them by pressing F1 on your keyboard and search for "New Layer", "Transparency", etc.

There is only one way to add or remove anything from a photograph in Photoshop without it looking totally fake, and that is using the rubber stamp tool.

Just zoom way in to the eyelashes, but not so far in that you only see chunky pixels. Make your rubber stamp tool as small as you need to, so that you can only copy a section of the eyelashes and nothing else. Now just hold down the alternate/option key (that's on a Mac, I'm not sure if Windows uses the same key) and click on an area where the eyelashes look thick. Then without holding down the alternate/option button, stamp the eyelashes in where they look thin.

To make them longer, alternate/option click on the tips of the eyelashes, then stamp them in a little higher up. Try to keep everything in line.

First, Photoshop Elements 3 is three versions removed from the latest. There have been improvements with each release. There is a world of difference between Elements and CS3, that is why there is also a world of difference between the cost of the two. You will spend upwards of $700 for CS3 and with that you get all the features that a professional photo editor would probably need or use. Elements is a powerful little program for less than $100 --- look for Elements 3 and it can probably be found for $20 on Ebay. Elements 3 has all the features of CS3 EXCEPT, curves, paths, history brush, editable filters, masks and more which are most likely meaningless if I could name them all.

I recommend you purchase Photoshop Element's first, until you decide that you actually NEED a full version Photoshop.

Elements contains the most popular features from Photoshop and many designers never get into projects needing anything else. Elements retails for around $100 while the full version can cost aroung $600. It would be a shame for you to spend all that money, only to have most of its features sitting, unused, on your hard drive. It would be like spending a hundred thousand dollars on a high performance sports car, and only use it to go grocery shopping.

The good thing about starting out with Elements, is that, should you decide to upgrade to a full version, the upgrade costs less than a stand alone full version, so, the initial $100 spent on Elements is not wasted.

As far as the creative suite purchase: again, it may be that you will need Illustrator, InDesign and other apps, but hold off on buying them until you know you will need them. I recommend you take a couple of digital design classes at your local community college, or adult education center. Most of the current classes will, at least, introduce you to these software applications, so you will have a good idea which app is best to use in which kind of project.

Do some "window shopping" at a local computer super store, or office supply center. It is much safer purchasing in person than most online shopping. If you insist on purchasing online, then only do it from reliable, name brand retailers and not some unknown discout distributor. And, uness you purchase from the Adobe.com site directly, DO NOT buy a downloaded software from anyone else.

gimp, its linux based but I think it will work on windows (theres ports and stuff). It's VERY similar to photoshop and some magazines are chosing it over photoshop which is pretty incredible. Takes some getting used to though but is a million times better than photoshop. 100% free for life too!

I recommend that you use them both. I use Paint.net for most things, but it doesn't support hex colors (#FF0000), so sometimes I use GIMP when I need to use specific colors.

If you are a registered user than you can call Adobe and ask for a replacement install CD. I think they will do that (for a fee).

Just copying the drive to the new computer drive won't copy all of the permissions and codes you need to make it run. However, you can make an exact clone of your old drive, to your new drive, and that will work. I know that you can take both machines to an apple reseller to have this done for you, or there may be cloning software out there too. This may be your best option. Good Luck.

Yeah I agree with hauntedtreehouse picassa is really easy to use, there are a number of effects you can do without a hassle but would be limited for a pro.

Also try adobe photoshop and I love corel photoshop except the file is really large and slows down my computer.

Thats a pretty old bit of software, but you should still be able to contact Adobe for replacement media.
You won't find PS 7 easily downloadable. Since you still have the SN...consider buying a PS upgrade, OR CALL ADOBE.com and let them know what happened. If you give them your SN, and or proof of purchase, they might be able to send you a new disc! If they cannot, I suggest you upgrade, we are about 4-5 versions above 7 now, and it makes a huge difference, trust me the upgrade is worth every penny!

I tried to download the Photoshop trial onto my laptop but I do not have all the requirement. The pictures I took are from a microscope and due to the program used I can only look at them in Windows Fax and Picture viewer. When I open these pictures with paint they are huge and can't be made any smaller. Is there any other trial program I could download to edit these pictures?

You are trying to use it for some school work obviously..I would recommend going for the HP Image Zone. It usually comes with a printer but it is downloadable. It is the best u can use. Using picasa and the rest is all for fun. At the same time though u should make copies of your photos so if Image Zone doesn't do it for you Microsoft Picture it! works just as good.

You cannot do it. This would be illegal. She can go to the Adobe website and download the trial version.

If she is a student, she should check with her school to see if they have a program to help students get the student license for Photoshop, it's a lot cheaper than buying retail. If her school can't help, she can still purchase it through online resellers such as JourneyEd.com and Academic Superstore. She will have to prove she's a student, but it's a good way to go.

Sorry, put you can not do that - either physically or legally.

When Photoshop installs, it adds a lot of entries into the registry and puts files in several Windows related directories. There is no way to find and copy all of those files, or to copy all of the registry entries. Without those, the program will not work.

Once installed, most versions of Photoshop will connect with the Adobe web site and send an activation request before the program begins. If it does this, it will either refuse to active on your friend's PC (because it is already registered on your PC) or it will activate on your friend's and STOP working on your PC. So you run the risk of losing your own version of Photoshop if you do this.

Finally, it is illegal to copy the program for someone else. Since Photoshop is a program that "phones home", the owners will be notified that you are attempting to steal the program and could bring felony charges against you.

So there is no way physically or legally to copy the program.

I've never tried any others apart from 7.0 so I can't give a totally valid point of view, but all I know is from what I can tell 7.0 does everything and anything and it's really easy to get a grasp of. Newer versions look slightly more complicated to me. Photoshop is a girls best friend :)

You can merge layers into 1 layer only. The shortcut in i'm not misstaken is Ctrl-E. You can aslo play with layers while one is on front and which one is at the back.

Not entirely sure what you're trying to achieve. Your webcam will just show video of you - some may capture single images.

Photoshop is a piece of photo editing software that goes onto your PC and no where else.

So I guess the short answer is no!
A webcam is a computer add-on, not a computer unto itself. You can not put a computer program (such as photoshop) "on" a webcam.

You can take pictures with the webcam and then open and edit them with photoshop.
i cant understand exactly how you want to put photoshop on your webcam. if you want to edit photos taken from webcam in photoshop then it may be possible. but webcams are not made to take photos, only videos

If you have not used the program Photoshop before, after installation the best place to start would be the tutorial or help menu which normally is part of the program interface. It will give you even some examle which you can practice and will be a starting point for you. If you want further tutorial you may have to go the website of the program.

And finally, after installation you may be asked to make payment for you to get the full benefit of the package, do that and the package becomes yours.
